Can Aadhaar mobile number be linked or changed online?
Simple answer: you can verify which mobile/email is linked online, but mobile number update/change is not fully permitted online. For adding, changing or correcting mobile number in Aadhaar, UIDAI says you need to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or use the postman route where available.
You can verify online
Use UIDAI Verify Email/Mobile service to check whether your mobile number/email is linked with Aadhaar.
Update needs centre/postman
If mobile is not linked, old number lost, or OTP not coming, visit authorized Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or postman route where available.
No OTP sharing
Do not share Aadhaar OTP, mobile OTP, bank OTP, UPI PIN or biometric request with WhatsApp agents or fake websites.
Important local example: If your old SIM is closed and Aadhaar OTP is not coming, you cannot fix it by entering a new mobile number on a random website. Go to authorized Aadhaar centre, give biometric authentication, collect acknowledgement slip and later check update status.

Open UIDAI Verify Email/Mobile page. Enter Aadhaar number, mobile/email and captcha as asked. If system confirms mobile is verified, you can use OTP-based Aadhaar online services. If not verified, continue to update route.
If mobile is not linked, do not search “online update” shortcuts
UIDAI clearly says mobile update is not permitted through online mode. So fake websites that say “Aadhaar mobile update from home in 2 minutes” are risky. Use centre or postman route only.
Locate mobile/email update centre near you
Open Bhuvan Aadhaar portal. Search by location, PIN code, state/district, or nearby option. Choose centre type “Mobile and Email Update” where available. Save centre name, address and timing.
Book appointment where available
For Aadhaar Seva Kendra/appointment-enabled centres, book a slot before going. Choose service related to Aadhaar update/mobile update, select date/time and keep appointment details saved.
Visit centre with Aadhaar number and active new mobile
For mobile update, UIDAI FAQ says old mobile number or document is not required. Still carry Aadhaar card/e-Aadhaar and keep your new active mobile with you. Operator may take biometric authentication.
Check details before biometric submit
Before final submit, carefully check the mobile number typed by operator. One digit mistake will again create OTP problem. After biometric sign-off, collect acknowledgement slip with EID/URN details.
Check update status after submission
Use EID/URN/SRN from acknowledgement slip to check update status. Do not throw the slip. It is your proof if the update is delayed or rejected.
After update, verify again and download e-Aadhaar
Once status shows success, verify mobile/email again. Then download updated e-Aadhaar if needed. Aadhaar number remains same after update.
If update is delayed or rejected, raise grievance
If status is pending for a long time, rejected, or centre charged extra without receipt, use UIDAI grievance route or call 1947. Keep acknowledgement number and centre details ready.
